http://tourvideos.com/ Along the Lisbon waterfront are the two most famous monuments in Belem which stand as symbols of Portugal’s 16th century naval voyages: The Tower of Belem and the Monument to the Discoveries. To understand the history of Portugal, we need to consider their spectacular maritime discoveries 500 years ago. Vasco da Gama was the first to sail around Africa and discover the ocean route to Asia, opening up a vast trade network that made Portugal rich. Pedro Cabral discovered Brazil in 1500, which Portugal claimed as their largest colony, and Portuguese navigators were the first to sail to China, in 1542. After the initial Portuguese discoveries other European countries joined in the hunt for colonies and the world would never be the same again. This was the beginni...
We headed to Lisbon Portugal for a quick stop over on our way to Italy. We only had 2.5 days in Lisbon and we didnt waste any time getting to know the city. We spent the day checking out local landmarks such as the harbor, Rossio Square, the street cars, Christo Rei, and much more. We quickly fell in love with Lisbon. The city is vibrant, with rich history. If you are on the fence about visiting Lisbon Portugal, just go. You will not regret it. We have been informed several times that this video has some misinformation in it and we would like to correct it. Lisbon is not technically on the ocean. When I reference the ocean in the video I am in fact talking about the Rio Tejo Tagus, a river that empties into the Atlantic Ocean about 13 miles away from Lisbon.
Lisbon, Portugal. Longshot of a ship in Lisbon harbor, camera pans around the houses and buildings of the city of Lisbon, Portugual. A blue car sits outside the monument to the discoveries. Belem Tower. Cars drive around a roundabout that has a tall column in the centre, several cars are parked on the street is it the Restauradores Square?. The National Theatre in the background as cars are directed past by a policeman wearing a grey-ish uniform, white gloves and helmet, he stops the traffic and lets a couple cross the road. A palace in the "Parades de Commercia" or Parca do Conercio, is behind a plaza and a structure with a man on a horse, black cars parked in the foreground. The palace of Kertup(?) with stately gardens , well trimmed hedges, statues and water features. Other landmarks...
Which country name means the harbor of the Celts? I came up with BeKeSe (Best Kept Secrets) to draw everyone’s attention to lesser-known wonderful things other people have created over the years, whether it is a building, clothing, a legend, a tradition, a village, or an entire country. BeKeSe is not just about traveling to see something, but to feel the creative energy, even from your couch. I chose the ones I absolutely love. Many of them are places of mystery, secrecy, magic, legends, and allure. While the videos are edited by me only some of the photographs are taken by me. I am grateful to the others that have contributed. I would love your feedback, suggestions and artistic contribution to help BeKeSe grow. I hope you enjoy, like, and share the videos. Two Jews, among hundreds of thousands to have fled across the whole of Europe escaping the Nazis. And they are still living in Lisbon today. The capital city of this small, impoverished nation was a transit station for many prominent Jewish refugees, such as Heinrich Mann, Franz Werfel, Lion Feuchtwanger and Alfred Polgar. Strictly governed by Prime Minister Antonio Salazar, Portugal was neutral during the Second World War and guaranteed a thirty-day stopover for the hunted exiles, who had to make their way through the country on route to America....

Lisbon was the final stop of our European tour and we couldn't have chosen a better destination. The city immediately won us over with it's cheery pastel buildings, delicious fresh seafood, and it's unique mix of attractions. It also didn't hurt that we had clear blue skies the whole week we were there! The following video will highlight 20 things to do in Lisbon and we hope it will give you a few ideas of some of the sights this beautiful city has to offer. http://bookinghunter.com Lisbon is the capital city and largest city of Portugal. Lisbon is the westernmost large city located in Europe, as well as its westernmost capital city and the only one along the Atlantic coast. It lies in the western Iberian Peninsula on the Atlantic Ocean and the Tagus River. The most important places to visit in Lisbon are: Jeronimo's Monastery (this is one attraction you must not miss in Lisbon. Constructed in the 16th century, it's simply an amazing site), Pena Palace (located in the town of Sintra, close to Lisbon, among the world's most beautiful palaces. A fine example of Portuguese architecture), Belem Tower (a 16th century UNESCO world heritage site. Initially a fortress to protect the city, it symbolizes the Age of Discoveries), Commerce Square (a gra...
Travel video about destination Lisbon in Portugal. Lisbon is a white city located on Portugal’s River Tejo and is flamboyantly beautiful and full of melancholy, and also lively and bursting with colourful joie de vivre. The Praca Dom Pedro is more commonly known as the Rossio. At the northern end of the square is a former palace that has been transformed into a national theatre. The main square was once the setting of bull fights and up until 1820 and the Spanish Inquisition so called heretics were burned at the stake. The medieval Sé Patriacal Cathedral stands defiantly on a hillside. Following the Christian conquest the city’s bishops’ church was built on the foundations of a former mosque to commemorate victory over the Moors. On the city’s highest hill is the marvellous Castelo De Sao J...

Spread across steep hillsides that overlook the Rio Tejo, Lisbon offers all the delights you’d expect of Portugal’s star attraction, yet with half the fuss of other European capitals. Gothic cathedrals, majestic monasteries and quaint museums are all part of the colourful cityscape, but the real delights of discovery lie in wandering the narrow lanes of Lisbon’s lovely backstreets. As bright yellow trams wind their way through curvy tree-lined streets, Lisboêtas stroll through the old quarters, much as they’ve done for centuries. Village-life gossip in old Alfama is exchanged at the public baths or over fresh bread and wine at tiny patio restaurants as fadistas (proponents of fado, Portugal’s traditional melancholic singing) perform in the background. Meanwhile, in other parts of town, v...

Then on to the Algarve where we explore the Land's End of Europe — windy and historic Cape Sagres — before savoring pristine beaches and arm-wrestling octopuses in the sleepy fishing village of Salema. I morti furono 100 mila in Portogallo e 10 mila in Marocco.

Travel video about destination Porto in Portugal. Situated in the north of Portugal, Porto is a cultural capital of Europe and birthplace of the nation. The Torre Dos Clerigos is the symbol of the city and was built in the middle of the 18th century on a rock at the city's most elevated point. Two hundred twenty-five steps lead to a stunning view across the picturesque old harbor town and its carpet of red rooftops that nestle against the city's hills. Porto has one of the most beautiful markets in Europe that contains a large inner courtyard completely encircled by arcades. The narrow, deep river valley of the Douro is spanned by 5 bridges of which the most impressive is the Ponte Dom Louis. The Frenchman, Gustave Eiffel, constructed the gigantic two level bridge that connects Porto wi...

This is a short out and back ride on a stretch of the East Coast Greenway, a paved trail dedicated to cycling, running and walking. Nice wooded trail with views of the Androscoggin river. The trail has some rolling hills, the elevation map is a little deceiving as the rolls are only slight overall changes in elevation. Parking is located at the start of the trail at a public boat launch. There are also picnic tables if you want to stay and have lunch. If you like this course and want to ride it yourself, full details are available at Map My Ride.
